Wonder Woman
The Wonder Woman award is inspired by a late member of our league, Beth Pillon, who lost her battle with cancer in 2017. Beth embodied everything you would want in a teammate – dedication, determination, kindness, and humour. Her friends and family described her as the definition of Wonder Woman – her light shone brightly on everyone around her, and she never gave up her fight.
Our Ladies LaSalle Slo-Pitch league take the time each year to remember her for the woman that she was but to also bestow this award on someone on each team who exemplifies her spirit. We do
this so that her legacy will live on each season.
Within our league, there have been many who have battled every year. Yet with a league like this one you are welcomed and encouraged to show up and share your stories. This league offers support, love and respect for all folks. This is what we truly love about playing at MicMac each Thursday.
Friendships are formed, folks are lifted up, encouraged and find the love for the game that Beth had.
This award is chosen by your teammates. It is your teammates who saw something extraordinary in you that they wanted to have recognized and celebrated. Wonder Woman is quoted saying “Because no matter how small an act of kindness or generosity or simple positivity you put out into the world, it will make a difference.”
These award recipients have made a difference in our league and their teammates are the ones who saw it or experienced it.
Most Improved
Improvement in sports is about more than just stats; it’s about heart, dedication, and a relentless desire to grow. These players come to us at the beginning of a season with a passion for the game,
but we could see a spark waiting to ignite. Every game, they showed up ready to learn, to push their limits, and to lift their teammates.
From those first few games, where nerves may have gotten the best of them, to the standout performances we’ve witnessed in the latter half of the season, these players have not only improved their skills but have become a crucial part of our leagues success. Whether it’s mastering
skills on the field or beside the plate as well as supporting teammates with encouragement, their journey has been nothing short of inspiring.
What truly sets them apart is their resilience. When faced with challenges, instead of backing down, they chose to work harder, asking questions, seeking feedback, and putting in extra hours.
They remind us that improvement isn’t always easy, but it’s incredibly rewarding.
Coach’s Choice
The Coaches Choice award celebrates our achievements as a team but also to honor the players
who have exemplified what it means to be a true teammate and leader.
This award is special because it’s given to the players in our league who have made a profound impact both on and off the field. Every season, we have had the privilege of watching these players rise to every challenge with a positive attitude, unwavering commitment, and a genuine love for the game.
What stands out about these players is their ability to inspire others. Whether it’s with game winning plays, a strategic insight, or simply by lifting up a teammate during tough times, they have
consistently shown that success is about more than individual achievements; it’s about the strength of our entire league.
Beyond their skills and determination, it’s their sportsmanship and character that truly set them apart. They understand the importance of respect—both for the game and for their opponents.
Their attitude embodies the spirit of our league, and they remind us that every game is an opportunity to grow, learn, and support one another.
